Miners working on the open pit
These miners are working diligently to access valuable gold ore within an open pit mine. By excavating the surrounding earth, they aim to uncover hard rock layers that contain significant amounts of precious metal.
Throughout their efforts, various pieces of overburden—rocks and debris—are encountered in clay, silt, and soft soil. Surprisingly, even small fragments can hold substantial quantities of gold; a few grams might be found within just one or two rocks.
It’s important to note that this mining site was not under our company’s management at the time the photograph was taken.
