February 28th 2020, There is fog and there is smoke, without smoke, flies are biting our workers
The fog is there on picture but also the smoke. Miners are preparing smoke to deter small flies that are biting our heads, legs, hands.
Safety against insects in Kisoro district of Uganda near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest cannot be overstated due to both health and operational concerns. The dense forest environment is home to a variety of insect species such as mosquitoes carrying malaria or other diseases like dengue fever which can pose significant risks for workers involved in outdoor activities, including mining operations depicted here on February 28th, 2020. Additionally, small flies that bite exposed skin not only cause discomfort but also increase the risk of infections and allergic reactions among miners who spend long hours outdoors without adequate protection from these pests; hence measures like using smoke to deter insects are crucial for maintaining worker health and productivity in such environments.
