Standard Operating Procedure

The following instructions are the official protocol as provided on the Garrett Super Sluice hardware. Adherence to these steps is mandatory for consistent results.

1. Fill the sluice ½ with panning material
2. Submerge sluice in water
3. Finger sift out larger gravel-rocks
4. Rub together above sluice, expect for nuggets, discard
5. Hand stir material allowing gold to settle to bottom
6. Grasp sluice with both hands with riffles at 12 o'clock
7. Begin a shaking motion, either side to side or circular
8. Tilt riffle traps down letting lighter materials spill over
9. Keep material covered with water
10. Repeat shaking/spilling till only ½ cup remains
11. Spread concentrates on bottom and inspect
12. Use suction bottle to remove visible gold
13. Gently dip small amounts of water into sluice
14. Carefully wash out remaining sand & gravel leaving fine gold

• Finding Gold: To successfully find gold (not merely to collect all available gold, but to locate gold) using the Garrett Super Sluice, the process must be completed in no more than 3 minutes.

• Processing Concentrates: When collecting all gold from concentrates or a half pan, the process may take longer due to the complexity of fine particles; however, an expert operator must still strive to keep this duration under 3 minutes.

SYOGM Training Requirement: Every operator trained by SYOGM is required to master the Garrett Super Sluice operation within a 3-minute window while ensuring zero gold loss.

Technical Execution Note

When performing Step 13 (Gently dip small amounts of water into sluice), precision is vital to prevent loss of fine particles:

• Do not push or spill the soil forcefully.
• Before dipping the pan into the water, you must ensure the soil has settled and the excess water has run out.
• Dip and pull the pan back in a manner that allows the water to take the surface of the soil.
• Crucial: The operator must not push the soil into the water; the water must move over the soil.
