Strategic Partnership Agreement have been signed between the Safe Mining Initiative, Geita, Tanzania and Start Your Own Gold Mine Limited.
The major purpose of the agreement is to provide mutual educational efforts for miners and public in Tanzania and the world, on ethical and environmentally friendly mining methods, pollution issues, and other adverse social issues with the goal of social betterment of the same. START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED is to strive to we prepare mobile educational centers and educational tents, that will teach miners safe mining methods. Such tents would be mobile, movable, and transportable, with basic equipment and demonstratable methods teaching mercury free gold recovery. Such tents would be equipped with music, loudspeakers, with advertising panes which speak about the safe mining.
People involved
Ernest Makene
Ernest Makene is organization manager for Safe Mining Initiative.
After graduating from Law School of Tanzania, Makene spent several years in supporting and helping artisanal small scale miners in legal issues more particularly to mining communities affected by land conflicts.
His passion to see artisanal small scale miners working without poisoning themselves and their families, thrusted him to join Safe Mining Initiative where he has contributed much into making a safe working environment for tanzanian artisanal small scale miners.
Isack Talange
Isack Talange is finance and administration manager for Safe Mining Initiative.
Mr. Isack is a young energetic and creative professional and certified professional accountant. He has more than seven years of practical experience in accounting and finance. He is skilled in budget process and control, preparation and presentation of financial reports, internal control systems, audit investigation and assurance and determination of tax payable.
Vincent Nicolaus Makoye
Vincent is a result oriented professional who is enthusiastic about finding answers to Artisanal Small-scale Miners (ASM) Occupational Safety Health and Environmental issues and share knowledge on Best Practices to ASM on Occupation Health and Safety Environment Quality and promoting zero accident culture to Tanzanian Artisanal Small-scale Miners.
Over a period of his experience, he has massively been engaged in the Tanzanian mining sector from large to small scale gold mines where has leant that "THE SAFE WAY IS THE BEST WAY".
He holds a National Occupational Safety and Health Authority Certificates and serves as Program Manager for Safe Mining Initiative.

Major purpose of the agreement

Partnership Strategy
Mobile Educational Centers
START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED is to strive to we prepare mobile educational centers and educational tents, that will teach miners safe mining methods. Such tents would be mobile, movable, and transportable, with basic equipment and demonstratable methods teaching mercury free gold recovery. Such tents would be equipped with music, loudspeakers, with advertising panes which speak about the safe mining.
Both parties shall enact policies and procedures on how such projects with mobile educational centers shall be run.
Separate written projects will be proposed by START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED.
Training in mercury free gold recovery methods
SAFE MINING INITIATIVE will provide staff members who will learn the mercury free gold recovery methods as given by education and training by START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED. This will include knowledge and know-how and training on how to teach miners about the laws and policies on child labor, women's rights, environmental pollution and other similar issues that are of mutual educational interest for both parties and the public.
Certification of Skills
The certification of gold prospecting skills of educated people by any of activities of this partnership are exclusively retained by START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED.
Members of SAFE MINING INITIATIVE may become trained by START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED to educate artisanal miners. Certification shall be still retained by START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED.
Education on Mining Act and Regulations
Both parties are to educate artisanal miners and the public on the Mining Acts and Regulations of Tanzania and to help any broker, dealer, miner, or mineral license holder with the issues on how to comply with the laws, regulations, policies, environmental issues and administrative obligations.
Provision of gold prospecting equipment
START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED shall have rights to provide and sell gold prospecting equipment to artisanal miners during any mutual actions of both organizations and shall have all rights to advertise the environmentally friendly business consulting program Start Your Own Gold Mine.
Promotion of Safe Mining Initiative to the world
START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED shall have rights to advertise activities of Safe Mining Initiative to the world and collect donations for them or advise donors on how to direct donations directly to SAFE MINING INITIATIVE whereby 100% of those donations would go to Safe Mining Initiative.
SAFE MINING INITIATIVE shall appreciate any efforts in doing so, as those efforts are investment into Safe Mining Initiative, and cannot be easily understood. START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED will provide statements of invested amounts into advertising and promotion of SAFE MINING INITIATIVE whereby such amounts are to be considered donations and shall be recognized as such by the SAFE MINING INITIATIVE.
Designation of demonstration mining sites
It is intention of both parties to organize one or more demonstration mining sites, whereby Safe Mining Initiative and Start Your Own Gold Mine are working together in recovery of gold, and where such demonstration mining site shall invite media outlets to demonstrate the mercury free gold recovery methods.
Such mining sites shall be named Mercury Free Mining Sites or Ethical Mining Sites and those words or names shall not be protected as trademarks by either of the party.
Promotion of Tanzanian minerals mineral industry
Both parties agree to market promote Tanzanian minerals and mineral industry to the foreign countries, and to promote business and touristic opportunities in Tanzania.
Small Scale Mining Code and 10 principles for mining
The internationally well known small scale mining code and 10 principles of mining from The International Council on Mining & Metals that are based on leading international standards and human rights are hereby adopted for the purposes of this agreement and commit to bind any third party engaging in business on mining site, to the same principles here presented.
START YOUR OWN GOLD MINE LIMITED may educate any party or third party on the small scale mining code and 10 principles of mining.
